The stuff riders ask before they install.
No Odys account. The app never asks for your name or email. Subscriptions use your existing Apple ID or Google account — that’s the only login involved, and it stays with Apple or Google, not with us.
Yes. Maps, GPS, the HUD, Scout Mode, alerts, and mesh rider tracking all work without cell signal. The app never logs you out.
Tracks (trk), routes (rte), waypoints (wpt). Multiple tracks in one file each become a separate item in the folder you choose.
No artificial cap. Multi-thousand-point tracks are supported.
Twenty-seven US states covering every Backcountry Discovery Route and major ADV corridor. The full list is on the Offline Maps page.
No. The app is fully functional without one. Mesh rider tracking and mesh alerts require a Meshtastic-compatible LoRa device (roughly $30–80, one per rider).
Yes. One tap reverses the whole folder. Section names are preserved. The HUD math inverts. A reverse arrow stays in the status bar throughout the ride.
14 days, every feature unlocked. You start it by tapping “Start free trial” whenever you’re ready — not at install. The trial runs through the App Store / Google Play and auto-renews to a paid subscription on day 14 unless you cancel. We send banner reminders inside the app on day 7, day 11, and day 13.
Lite is the permanent free tier. If you cancel during the trial or stop subscribing later, the app drops to Lite — you still see your imported GPX as a line on the map, your GPS position dot, and basic speed/elevation in the HUD. Offline maps, Mesh, Scout, alerts, and the route-following intelligence pause until you subscribe. No account, no expiration, no lockout. You never get stranded in the backcountry without your line.
Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Odys ADV → Cancel. Or on Android: Play Store → Subscriptions → Odys ADV → Cancel. Two taps from inside the Odys app via the “Manage subscription” link. We don’t ask why, we don’t offer a retention discount, we don’t make you wait or talk to anyone.
Nothing is charged. Premium features stay on through day 14, then the app downgrades to Odys Lite. Your GPX import, settings, library state, and downloaded offline tiles are preserved. Resubscribe later and everything works again immediately — no re-downloads, no re-pairing.
No. Subscriptions run through the App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android, using the payment method already on your Apple ID or Google account. Odys never sees, stores, or transmits your credit card information.
No. Odys ADV doesn’t ask for an email address, doesn’t capture contact information, and doesn’t maintain a marketing list. We have no way to contact you after you close the app. Apple and Google may send subscription receipts to your Apple ID or Google account — those come from the OS, not from us.
They stay on your device but are paused — you’ll only see the online basemap in Lite. If you resubscribe later, your downloaded states light back up instantly with no re-download. You can also delete downloaded states from Settings to free up storage if you don’t plan to resubscribe.
No. Odys ADV is a follow-the-line app. For getting from a hotel to a restaurant, hand off to Google Maps or Waze with one tap from any waypoint.
No. Odys ADV is an independent app and is not affiliated with Backcountry Discovery Routes (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit). The app loads any BDR GPX track you bring to it, alongside any other backcountry route.
14 days free, then $24.99/year or $4.99/month. Cancel anytime in two taps.
