Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Odys ADV ("Odys ADV", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information in connection with your use of the Odys ADV mobile application (the "App") and the website located at odysadv.com (the "Site"). By using the App or Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Odys ADV is designed to function without an account, without a login, and without an internet connection. The information we collect is intentionally minimal. This policy describes what little we do collect, and what we explicitly do not.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Subscription Entitlement
Use of paid features in the App (the "Premium Features") requires either an active free Trial or a paid subscription, in each case purchased and managed through the Apple App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. To determine whether you are entitled to use Premium Features, the App reads the subscription receipt issued by Apple or Google for your Apple ID or Google account and verifies that receipt with the applicable store. The receipt indicates whether the subscription is active, in Trial, in a grace period, or expired.
Odys ADV does not receive, store, or process your credit-card number, billing address, name, email address, or Apple ID / Google account identifier as part of this process. The Trial is started, billed, renewed, and cancelled entirely through Apple’s and Google’s subscription systems; we never see your payment data.
If you stop subscribing, the App continues to operate in the free Odys Lite tier without any further entitlement check, and no information about your subscription status is retained or transmitted by Odys ADV.
1.2 Crash and Error Reports
The App uses Sentry (sentry.io), an industry-standard error-tracking service, to collect technical information about crashes and exceptions. Crash reports include the device model, operating-system version, App version, the stack trace at the time of the crash, a session identifier, and the language and region settings of the device. Crash reports do not include your location, your imported route data, names or positions of mesh-network peers, or the contents of any data stored locally on your device.
You may disable crash reporting at any time in the App's Settings under "Diagnostics."
1.3 Beta Testing
If you participate in the public beta of the App through Apple TestFlight or Google Play Open Testing, the operator of that program (Apple or Google) may collect usage and diagnostic information as described in its own privacy terms. We may receive aggregated, anonymized telemetry from these programs in connection with the beta. We do not receive identifying information about beta testers from Apple or Google.
1.4 Communications
If you contact us at contact@odysadv.com, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information solely to respond to you and resolve your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list.
1.5 Website Visits
The Site may log basic, aggregate request information through our web host, such as the date and time of requests, requested URLs, response codes, and IP addresses. This data is used to operate and secure the Site. The Site does not set advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party trackers.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
For clarity, the App does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or store on any server controlled by Odys ADV any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, Apple ID, or Google account identity;
- Your real-time or historical GPS location, latitude/longitude coordinates, elevation, or heading;
- The contents of GPX files or other route data you import into the App;
- The names, identifiers, positions, or messages of riders in your Meshtastic group;
- The contents of alerts (SOS, Assist, Oncoming, Wait Up, All Clear) sent or received through the mesh network;
- Photographs, contacts, calendar entries, microphone input, or other data from your device beyond what is necessary for the features described above;
- Information for the purpose of advertising, profiling, or analytics beyond the crash reporting described in Section 1.2.
3. How Your Information Is Used Locally
The App uses your device's GPS location, motion sensors, and Bluetooth radio to function as a navigation aid. This information is processed on your device and stored locally in a private database on your device. It is not transmitted to Odys ADV or any third party, except (a) Meshtastic mesh-network packets that you choose to broadcast to your private channel, which travel over radio between Meshtastic devices and never traverse the internet, and (b) optional deep links to third-party navigation apps (Google Maps, Waze) that you explicitly invoke.
4. Third-Party Services and Data Sources
The App and Site rely on the following third parties. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.
- Apple App Store and Google Play, for distribution, in-app purchases, and beta testing. Your interactions with these stores are governed by Apple's and Google's privacy policies.
- Sentry, for crash reporting (Section 1.2).
- OpenStreetMap and OpenFreeMap, as the source of map data and tiles. Map tiles for online mode are served by OpenFreeMap; offline maps are downloaded once and served from your device.
- The Meshtastic open-source project for off-grid radio communication. Meshtastic packets travel between radio devices on a private channel you create and are not relayed by Odys ADV servers.
- Google Maps and Waze, only when you explicitly tap "Navigate here" to invoke turn-by-turn directions to a specific point. These apps receive only the destination coordinate, and your subsequent interaction with them is governed by Google's privacy policy.
5. How We Use the Information We Do Collect
We use the information described in Section 1 for the following purposes:
- to verify subscription entitlement and Trial status against the App Store or Google Play subscription receipt (Section 1.1);
- to identify, diagnose, and resolve crashes and errors in the App (Section 1.2);
- to respond to your support requests (Section 1.4);
- to operate, secure, and improve the Site (Section 1.5); and
- to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, and enforce our Terms of Service.
6. Data Retention
Subscription receipts (Section 1.1) are read at runtime from your device’s App Store / Google Play state and from the applicable store’s receipt-verification endpoint. Odys ADV does not retain a server-side record of your subscription history. Crash reports (Section 1.2) are retained for ninety (90) days. Communications received at our support email (Section 1.4) are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the inquiry and meet our legal obligations.
7. Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the information we do receive, including TLS encryption in transit and access controls at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is one hundred percent secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under thirteen, we will promptly delete that information.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you reside, you may have rights under applicable data-protection law (including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act) to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal information we hold about you. Because Odys ADV does not maintain a server-side user record, mailing list, or persistent identifier tied to you, we typically hold no personal information about you to access, correct, or delete. To exercise these rights, or to request information about what (if anything) we hold, contact contact@odysadv.com. Subscription and payment information is held by Apple or Google; requests concerning that information should be directed to the applicable store.
10. International Users
The App is operated from the United States. If you access the App or Site from outside the United States, you understand that information we collect may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those of your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the App or Site. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
12. Contact
Questions or requests regarding this Privacy Policy should be directed to contact@odysadv.com.
